Most people stop following the dream of starting a business because of the belief that it will be costly; this is so far from the truth! I have listed what you can expect to spend the first year as an online business owner.

I have been running 2 businesses for the past three years. One as a business consultant where I help companies reduce costs. And the other as a coach where I help individuals learn all about sales, marketing, getting new clients, and increasing revenue. 

The reason I mention this is because when I started my first business, I spent way too much money on things I didn’t need. 

The more blogs I read and videos I watch, the more I was convinced I needed to get this and that to run my business online successfully. Initially, I would say to myself ‘what’s $30 a month’ that didn’t seem like much, but quickly it all added up to almost a couple of thousands a month! OUCH. 

Soon after, I started my second business and built a completely different website. I made a list of what I needed to run that business, and I was able to get everything up and to run for under $300 a month!

I am now in the process of revamping my coaching business into a membership program where I will help women start their own business and Fastrack their success while avoiding all the mistakes I made three years ago. 

The bottom line is as long as you get your branding in check and you build a website that sends a clear message of what you will be selling, you will have all you need to start getting new clients. 

There’s no need to pay $500 a year for landing pages. You can make beautiful landing pages with Weebly or WordPress and add a call to actions and much more.

The second most important thing you will need is an email service. As soon as you set up your website, you want to turn into a lead generating machine and start collecting email addresses so you can build relationships with your audience and eventually have them buy your services. 

For a business where you are selling your expertise, being able to meet your prospects face to face using video conferencing at least once is very important.

Having face to face interaction will build trust, help you close more deals, get new clients, and keep those clients for a longer-term.

You’ll also need a project management program, graphic design service for your posts, and a scheduler to help you manage time on posting to social media.

I included fiverr because it’s a great place to do one-off jobs. Such as creating a logo, removing a background from a picture, or any other small task that is better to outsource rather than trying to spend hours or days trying to figure it out yourself.
